Over 60 Christmas stalls with handicrafts, regional woodcarvings and traditional Plauen lace get you in the mood for what is probably the cosiest time of the year. On 28 November 2023, the traditional "Lichtl" procession is the cultural highlight, when the Vogtland Christmas figures Rupperich, Wattefrau and Bornkinnel, supported by the Steyr Christkindl, bring the Christmas lights from the mountain to the Altmarkt. This lovingly cultivated tradition is over 300 years old.

It's also worth taking a look from above at the traditional, beautifully lit and largest Christmas market in the Vogtland. On Advent Fridays, the town hall tower is open for a Christmas tour at dizzy heights. If the 230 steps up the tower are too much for you, you can sit comfortably in the beer electric and enjoy the charm of the Lace Town on the rails. The historic tram runs on all 4 Advent weekends.
